Links
[edit]I'm not aware of any guidelines that tell us not to make dates into links. I just checked the biography standards and there's nothing to suggest we shouldn't - quite the opposite, in fact. Deb 15:34, 26 Jun 2004 (UTC)
I know that it is extremely common to do this. It is also disputed and controversial. See Wikipedia:Make_only_links_relevant_to_the_context, which suggests linking birth and death dates. Have updated accordingly.Mat-C 01:11, 28 Jun 2004 (UTC)
GBH
[edit]Have edited this sentence to remove speech marks and to make it sound less trivial. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.245.18.185 (talk • contribs)
- I think he said in his autobiography he did not actually go down for GBH; but for ABH. Will eventually do an overhaul of the article and reference everything, although I will probably not have time for a month or so. Essexmutant 23:17, 2 August 2006 (UTC)
Acting
[edit]"He was on his way to collect his social security benefit when he passed the audition centre and was spotted by writers Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais who immediately approached him and asked if he could act. Nail was helped through the process of basic acting and acquiring Equity status"
This, as Jimmy would say is "Bollocks".
He already had his equity card and the audition was arranged by his agent because he met the audition requirement of being an 'actor' with a building trade background. Neither Clement nor La Frenais were present.
Accent of fame
[edit]Is it really true to say that he's famous for his "strong Geordie accent"? Well, he is a famous Geordie, and like most Geordies he has a Geordie accent - but I didn't think he was famous for his accent, which is basically just a normal Geordie accent, not a particularly strong one. 217.155.20.163 19:21, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- I agree and edited the article accordingly. The original read better, but it was not true. He just has a geordie accent.--133.62.198.24 (talk) 03:56, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Get Carter?
[edit](he had appeared as an extra in the movie Get Carter)
Oh did he?! I'm a great fan of this film and yet I can't find any evidence that he was in the movie and (if so) in which scene he appears. Some sources state that he turned up at Oxford Galleries (now Ikon nightclub) to watch Michael Caine filming various scenes, but there is nothing to state that he actually appeared on celluloid as an extra. 217.155.20.163 (talk) 01:13, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
